Albertville, a beautiful town in Savoie
The Savoies are a magnificent territory. It is a wonderful place for lovers of mountains, nature and sport. You can do all kinds of activities here, such as hiking, paragliding, rafting or family walks.
Beautiful lakes and all kinds of cities are worth a visit. The region is known for its delicious cheese and sausages, but also increasingly for its excellent wine growing area. Therefore, don't hesitate to visit one of the vineyards or one of the cheese manufacture.
A journey of exploration.
The Lac Saint Clair Campsite is located 29 kilometres from Albertville, a town of about 18,000 inhabitants, surrounded by the Alps and at the entrance to the Tarentaise and Maurienne valleys. It is nice to be able to come and spend some time here to discover all its wonders. There are beautiful monuments, for example the church of Saint Jean Baptiste, a beautiful catholic church, or the church of Saint Sigismond, a museum about the history of the city: the Museum of Art and History of Albertville. It is also pleasant to walk or cycle around the town. Various activities are also organised in the town.
The Winter Olympics.
Albertville is not such an old city, it was created in 1836. It is best known for hosting the Winter Olympics which took place in 1992 in the nearby ski areas. The Olympic Park with its various stadiums can still be visited.
The medieval city of Conflans.
Conflans is a citadel located much higher above the city. It is in fact the ancestor of the city. You will have a beautiful view over the valley and the town. Thanks to this high point, Conflans has had a big influence on the surroundings for centuries. It was also a strategic place because of its situation between Switzerland, Italy and France. The Romans therefore chose this place and the region flourished during the first centuries of our era. The conflicts themselves had military significance in this context. At the end of the Middle Ages, the citadel-village began to develop and you are still able to see much of it nowadays.
The Venice of the Alps.
Annecy is known for its location near the lake. It is also called the "Venice of the Alps". The city has a rich history and has had important functions. Several sites and monuments are worth mentioning:
- The symbol of the city: the Palais de l'Isle. This building has fulfilled several functions over time, including a palace and a prison. In the former palace is now the city museum. This monument is now one of the most photographed in France and you will certainly understand it by observing it.
- St. Peter's Cathedral, built at the beginning of the 16th century as a chapel for a Franciscan monastic order.
- Rue Royale is the centre of the city. In this street you will find all kinds of shops, restaurants, boutiques and gardens.

Chambéry, Historical capital of Savoy.
Chambéry is also a very old city which already existed in Roman times, but under the name of Lemencum. From the 13th to the 16th century, the city was the capital of the Duchy of Savoy. During the Second World War, it was partly destroyed. Fortunately, there are still some beautiful sights. There are all kinds of avenues, with passageways, courtyards and beautiful houses. There are also two large lakes: the Lac du Bourget and the Lac d'Aiguebelette, both of which are magnificent... The latter lake has a beautiful blue-green colour. You can swim there and you can practice many water sports.
