Camping Lac Saint Clair - Activities

Activities at the Lac Saint Clair campsite

Our campsite is located in the heart of the Savoie and is surrounded by different massifs of the Alps. Of course, this impressive nature reserve offers many activities for the whole family. With a small lake within walking distance, you don't even have to go far. But there is much more to discover in the region.

Lake St. Clair

Lake St. Clair is easily accessible on foot from the campground. Surrounded by impressive mountains, it's a great place to be. A fitness trail has been set up around the lake. For the children, there is a water playground and you can picnic on the picnic tables. On the leisure base you will also find a miniature golf course and a restaurant.

Fishing

With its rivers, mountain streams and lakes full of trout, pike and carp, this is an area where you can fish all season long. Lake St. Clair with beautiful species in abundance will already allow you to enjoy these charms, but half an hour away you can drive to Lake Barouchat, a lake managed by the Savoie federation and totally dedicated to fishing. Most of the sites in the region are managed by four different associations. Some lakes (including the lake of Saint Clair) are privately owned, but fishing is allowed there. Fishing permits can be bought at the tourist office in the village or directly at the reception.

The swimming pool

In the centre of the village, about 1.5 km away, there is a heated outdoor swimming pool. There are 3 pools: a paddling pool for the little ones, a 25-metre pool and a small pool. There is also a snack bar and free entrance for guests of the campsite. The swimming pool is open from June to September.

Canyoning

Put on the wetsuit that our guide will provide you, as you are guaranteed to have a great time in the streams of the surrounding canyons. Canyoning is an activity that will allow you to have a great time. Accompanied by a guide, you will descend through the gorge of a river where you will have to climb and abseil. But the most exciting moments are those when you have to jump into pools and let the different rapids take you smoothly. Experienced guides will tell you all the ins and outs of the route and help you if necessary. During half a day you will enjoy this mix of water laughter and adrenaline.

Via Ferrata

Via ferrata means "iron road", just like this route. In complete safety with our guides, you can easily reach places where only experienced climbers could go before. With a guide, you follow a route through a rocky landscape without relief. You climb up and down stairs and use rope bridges to cross deep gorges. You are secured by the steel cable along the way. You go up and down stairs and over rope bridges to cross deep gorges. You are secured by the steel cable along the way, making the via ferrata a safe and impressive high-mountain experience. In the surrounding area you will find a number of routes that take about half a day to complete.

Paragliding

With its beautiful nature, Savoie is an excellent region for paragliding. Feel free as a bird and float over the valley with its vineyards as far as the eye can see. Glide silently from thermal to thermal. Experience the silence and in the meantime enjoy a breathtaking view of the Alps, with Mont Blanc as the highest point. You float with an experienced instructor, so you don't have to worry. He or she will operate the glider and after about half an hour he or she will make sure that you land safely again. There are several paragliding schools in the area, which offer tours of different lengths.

Hiking

Whether you stay in the valley or visit the highest peaks, the views from here will never cease to impress you. The wonderful mountain environment surrounding us invites you to discover more and more. It is not for nothing that there are nearly four hundred kilometres of marked trails, which take you past old mills, ledges and mountain peaks. With thirteen selected theme walks, the magnificent vineyard path and the nearby GR738 path, there is something for every taste and especially for all levels: experts, Sunday hikers, families... Whatever the season, there is always a nice hike to do.

Rafting

About an hour's drive away, near Aime, you will find the starting point for a rafting descent. Here, the Isère river challenges you to conquer its wild waters. With a group, you go down the river in a raft. The river has calmer stretches, but there are also impressive rapids that are always accessible to everyone. Take advantage of the magnificent setting in the heart of a still preserved nature, get a big dose of adrenaline or enjoy a fun activity with your family, everything is possible. The crazier you are, the wetter you get. With your lifejacket and helmet, you are in the good hands of experienced instructors. You can choose to go white water rafting for half a day or a full day.

In addition to these activities, the heart of Savoie offers even more opportunities for an active holiday. Discover them in the following pages.

Our campsite is a good base for all these activities. We rent chalets, comfortable mobile homes and 35 spacious and shaded pitches.
